Project Details
This Michigan lake house was designed with the intention of it being a break from the sophisticated traveling life of the clients. This was achieved by bestowing the house with a woodsy lodge-type persona. From the obvious features like the large stone fireplace and the antler chandelier to the less tangible overall spacial dividing of the living space, this home has the cozy feeling of a cottage in the woods while retaining a very large indoor space.
Certain accents are kept throughout the house. For instance the copper-clad front door is carried into the kitchen with the hammered copper range hood. Also, all of guttering in the houses exterior is copper.
This house extends it’s views and itself towards the lake it is nestled on. The open spaced design helps take advantage of this situation by allowing for the most direct access to the views afforded by the window facade in the main public area.

The accents of this place are great. My favorite part may be the copper plating over the front door on the interior. It really emphasizes the direction the house is meant to face.
