Written Illustration The home sits on the side of a cliff, hill or mountain. The structure of the house is long with a curved master plan and some rooms are a combination of curves and right angels. The materials are natural to allow the architecture to become harmonious with the surroundings, yet designed in a contemporary fashion and hidden from public view. The home has many staircases and different levels on the same floors. All of the bedrooms on the second floor have balconies. There is an underground car park so that the idea of modern transportation is hidden from view. The view as one approaches the home is very simple and mysterious. There is an understated stone path and cobblestone driveway, both lined with cobolto color lights. The front entrance is humble and understated and there is a line of Cyprus trees following the curve of the structure. All the main features of the design are out of view from the entrance and are at the back of the home facing the view. The two observation towers are at either end of the structure, one higher than the other. Placed at each chimney location (15 total) and each tower top at the apexes are custom designed lights that are 8” long and slender with colbolto glass lenses. The backside of the house beyond the pool has mystical pathways grading down to sets of stairs. Throughout there are intermittent fruit trees, wine grape vines and beautiful vegetation. The pathways lead to other stairs, a patio for entertaining, and small romantic perches, all facing the spectacular view.

In the main living room there is a large window 40’-0” x20’-0” that mechanically opens on a horizontal central access pivot point to the best view. This feature allows one to feel they are both inside and outside. On the left side of the living room there are doors to the enclosed garden. On the right side there is the open kitchen.

GARDEN. A stone wall protecting it, with flowering vines, such as morning glory, Virginia creeper, silver lace vines, lavender and shuttlecock ferns, African Daisies (whirligigs), passion flowers, jasmine evergreen shrubs, Vancouver cennial, cranesbills, cypress tress, lemons trees, pair trees, berry bushes, etc. There is an entire fresh herb collection, a vegetable garden arranged and designed in an aesthetic fashion for the exploration in the preparation of cuisine.

KITCHEN. The kitchen is designed in earth tones in an Italian Tuscan contemporary style. It has a set of mahogany doors opening to small porch with ceiling that leads to the enclosed garden. The kitchen has a gabled ceiling, exposed wood beams and skylights to allow natural light in. The stove is a custom designed Chefs industrial 6 burner 12BTU with under broiler, featuring dark crimson red baked enamel finished with copper detailing and designer control knobs. As well a grilling pit that uses gas, natural wood or coals. There is a large butcher-block counter in a central location for food preparation. Above the butcher-block cutting board is a hanging pot rack with an entire set of Mauviel Copper cookware. The following cooking tools will be displayed in specially designed open shelves: a full set of Le Creuset cookware with Dutch oven in cobolto, Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer in colbolto, Waring Blender in colbolto, Fully Automatic Espresso Coffeemaker in colbolto, Dualit Toaster 4 Slice. The refrigerator is a custom designed Sub Zero, and the dishwasher is a no rinse Miele. All of the cabinetry are custom wood framed doors with glass and built in up lighting, in order to display, a colbolto glass collection and Italian gervasoni (www.gervasoni.it) pottery. A Sub Zero wine refrigerator is in the pantry. A round family dining table is set in a nook adjacent and open to the kitchen. The entire kitchen has a tile Italian floor with radiant solar floor heating. COURTYARD: Next to the kitchen is an outdoor stone and tile courtyard with lighting fixtures on the ground and hanging above. There is an outdoor fireplace that creates a romantic ambiance while eating and entertaining.

MASTER BEDROOM: This room is adjacent to a large walk-in closet where all clothing and accessories will be stored. The bedroom has no furniture except for the bed, which is placed in the middle of the room. There is also artwork on the central focal point wall. The bedroom has many windows and two adjacent balconies. One balcony is on one side of the room with a small door. The second balcony, on the opposite side of the room, is large enough to hold chairs and a breakfast table. It is accessed through a set of double doors. It has a spiral stairway that leads to an observation tower. The observation tower floor plan is 12’x12’ and is only accessible through the master bedroom. It is equipped with a mini bar, a beautiful chandelier hanging in the middle of the space, a sound system and chaise lounges for relaxation. All four sides of the observation tower have arches, contemporary in design. MASTER BATH: A large built-in stone and tile bath is adjacent to a walk-in shower featuring a contemporized Moorish arch at the top. There are side-by-side sinks, a steam room and speakers that are connected to the house sound system. GUEST BEDROOMS: The guest bedrooms are suites that include a sleeping area, an archway leading to a small living room with a private balcony and a shared observation tower. There is a bed in the center of the main sleeping area and small walk-in closets. The balconies each have flowering vines. Each guest room will have their own design concept. The guest suites share a bathroom that has no right angels; floors and ceilings seamlessly come together. The softness of water reflects the interior architecture of these bathrooms. There is a fireplace in each guest suite.

TWO CHILDREN’S BEDROOMS. The bedrooms have small-walk in closets connected to a shared bathroom. Their beds are in the center of the sleeping area. A wide archway leads to their study/play rooms fully equipped with up to date computer equipment, etc. The two rooms have a shared balcony and a bathroom with a fireplace.

DESIGNER STUDIO: Windows wrap the entire floor to maximize natural light. There is a fireplace and a stairway leading to a starscape viewing deck as well as bridge connecting the starscape deck to the guest observation tower. BATHROOMS: All of the bathrooms are spacious and reflect the true rituals of cleansing the body. The bathroom designs encompass the aesthetic of a temple. Every bathroom has a unique design concept yet remain connected visually through the use of materials etc. Some materials are metallismo and Bisazza Mosaics. STARSCAPE VIEWING DECK: The roof offers an observation deck 25’-0” x 48’-0” The concept is to create the illusion that you are in open space while looking at the stars. There are two levels to this starscape viewing deck, the first level has a railing around the entire area and a 4’-0” path wrapping the entire inner deck, leaving a 17’-0”(W) x40’-0” (L) area in the middle. The upper deck is designed to allow it to be elevated to a second position of 3’-0” feet or lowered to the main level with the 4’-0” path and railing. Railings are below the main deck when the deck is in 2nd position; the deck horizon is in open space with the earth horizon creating an illusion that there is no separation between the stars and the deck. While standing on this platform one can watch the world and sunset as if watching the most spectacular performance one has ever seen. This view will bring to the perceiver the wonder and magic of earth and the universe.

OUTDOOR FEATURES: Pathways, stairs down the side of the mountain, with viewing perches and a large stone patio to entertain guests.
