feels like fall

despite the fact that we're having a second air conditioner installed in our apt today, it's starting to feel like fall in retail land. i'm loving these rich woven rugs at anthropologie- the whole store feels like autumn now and i'm really looking forward to being able to put on sweaters, open the windows and cook comfort food again. until then, i can just imagine winter show shoes laying on these rugs ($38 for each 2 x 3 ft. rug).

facets

i've always had a thing for faceted designs- i love the way that adding a geometric edge to things can make you reevaluate or rediscover a traditional shape. this mame-yakko rose fabric at repro depot is such a nice example of how using angles and geometric shapes can update a traditional look. though they're not fully faceted or 3-d, the geometric petals are a really lovely touch. if facets aren't your thing the mame-yakko chrysanthemum is a nice option, too. [i can't sleep because 'rock your body' is stuck in my head. so instead of starting late i'll bow out a bit early today]

rumba

i've been looking for a non-girly desk lamp for our bedroom (ac and i share desk space) and this is one of my favorites. it probably won't be right for our space but it's such a lovely piece. designed by helena pouch, the rumba m46 light is available right here for $307.80.

futuresex/latestart

posting will start a bit later today, around 11 or so. i'm still recovering from probably the biggest surprise i've gotten in years last night. after drudging into the city supposedly to go some rather cruddy soul food restaurant outside of penn station, ac informed me that we would not be meeting our friends at the cruddy restaurant. in fact, we would not be meeting them at all. instead, we'd be going to the justin timberlake concert. i don't think i believed him until justin actually came on stage. i'll admit it, i, d*s, am a huge JT fan. so needless to say, it was a seriously awesome night. that boy can dance. i mean, dance. we didn't get home until pretty late so i'm going to take a quick nap and then come back. see you guys in a bit.
