Flea Market Fab...

In the age of Ebay, it's any wonder people leave the house to actually shop...let alone, walk for hours and hours rummaging through other people's junk in hopes to find that diamond in the rough (for a good price too).

But, for artist John Derian, visiting flea markets is a childhood pastime, and might I add has truly paid off in his cozy New York apartment featured in Elle Decor/March 2006. You won't find a single designer object here...yup, no Pottery Barn either...but each piece, including the stove is unique, creating a lovely blend of flea market finds.

Whether you want to outfit your entire house in unique pieces or just find a few to add to the mix already, here's a list of some great places (in Nor. Cal.) to check out next time you feel like hunting for furniture (Okay, I know it's not exactly the best Flea Market weather...but maybe that means less people and better chances for you...)

**Alameda Antique Faire, next show on Dec. 2nd**

*Alemany Flea Market, year round on Weds/Sun.*

*Berkeley Flea Market, year round on Sat/Sun.*

*Sacramento Antique Fair, 2nd Sun of every month*

Just the right PIECES....

In this month's issue of Cottage Living, Lee Kleinhelter (of Atlanta shop Pieces) shows how to take a simple plain bedroom and transform it into a bright fresh space...

Using the "less is more approach" to this room design...really pays off in the end! It's great to see a space that shows how fun white walls can be when you punch them with bright colors...

It's all in the details, right...well how could you not love this Hable Construction fabric in Sky Bead (available at Pieces).

A nice mix of storage options, these Large Burlington Basket's in Loden are available through Design Ideas.

And the best part, Lee offers up how she pulled this design together and what was used for the readers...

Oh, and Happy Friday, hope you have a great weekend!!!

Stock up!

In an effort to find some "original" stockings this Holiday season, I stopped in to Hable Construction and found a huge selection of designs...take a look, but this is only some of many available. But the best part is the site has a feature where you can "design your own mantel" with the stocking you select, check it out here.

They even have pet stockings (like the one below) and tree skirts too!

I love all of these designs, although I'm so picky that I may end up making my own :) That is if I find the time.

Have a good laugh today...

Thank you Design*Sponge for making my Friday! Yesterday's post on site "Eurobad '74" was just what I needed...a good helping of European interiors gone wrong.

Some aren't so bad...but others, well see for yourself. The pic above is what I would call a case of Kelly green gone wrong...way wrong...but I do like the idea of matching your car to your kitchen (I'm practical, what can I say:)

So, treat yourself today and stop by Design Sponge and Eurobad '74!!!
Happy Friday and Hope you have a great weekend!
