Mirror, Mirror...
(Designed by Brian McCarthy/Elle Decor, Dec. '07)Scale, proportion, placement...all of these are key when fitting the right mirror in place. Seems fairly easy to do, but takes some skill to really transform a room...
In this instance a pair of tilted mirrors is just right for this bedroom...
Furniture in front of a mirror, like this settee here works great, but casegood pieces work as well...
Mirror over mirror, love this idea! Makes that full/tight typical bathroom mirror more special...
Another favorite, this mirror is bound to double the size of the room...
These are some tear sheets I've been collecting of room designs that emphasize the right mirror(s)...just wanted to share with you...

Flower power...
It's a floral affair...Michael Aram's new Spring collection is due out in April, and it's got me thinking "bright and shiny" during these grim rainy days!!!
Of this collection, Michael had to say: "I imagine myself as a small creature in a garden with these vibrant and electric blossoms towering over me..."
A great addition to the recent "floral" trend, these hand-made pieces are exquisite and affordable too! If you're ever in Chelsea pop into Michael Aram's store, or click here to view online...

Rustic Glamour/part deux
There is something so charming about a rustic dining room, don't you think? They key is to create the right balance of elements...some designs border on the more modern side and others somewhat traditional, either way the right touch can lead to a pleasing and cozy environment...
One of my favorite homes as of late, this small dining room is packed with charm...
Very elegant, yet the architecture and small decor touches (like the way the tables drapes) offers a country rustic feel...
Love this combo of the dining table and chandelier...
A modern twist, this design with the washed wood and deep red tones feels so romantic...
Probably just a typical day of dining in France I suppose, must be nice...
(via Western Interiors, Oct./Nov. '07)A bit more rustic then I tend to like, but still I love the touch of lighting...

Equestrian Inspired...
Okay, I'll admit it...I'm a Bravo reality show junkie. This is partly due to the fact that my other TV show favs (The Office, I miss you come back to me) are on hold due to the writer's strike...but also they're quite addicting. Recently I caught a few episodes of Bravo's new show "Make me a Supermodel"...
Elle DecorAt first I was thinking "do we need another show about models," but then like usual I'm now watching every one. Last week's episode featured a (somewhat is the key word) "equestrian inspired" runway show...so I thought I'd keep it going with some equine style decor, hope you enjoy!!!
